News flash: Elle Fanning can sing — astonishingly well!  When she looks into the camera and sings “Lights,” caressing each note, radiating great joy as a singer… Variety

The great Elle Fanning plays Violet, a Polish teenager living on the Isle of Wight with her single mother. She works a job she hates, sulks through school, and generally seems to detest her life. But she sings at an open mic occasionally, and she has a beautiful voice—Fanning did all of her own singing and she does a phenomenal job with the music, further proving she can do pretty much anything.  Rogerebert.com

Violet, it turns out, has one hell of a voice — and Fanning does, too. It can be a reedy instrument, and the actress isn’t going to be confused for Lady Gaga anytime soon, but her talents are perfectly suited for pop confections like “Dancing on My Own.” Not only that, but she’s able to make space for her posh British accent in every song, and even carve out some room for herself..
