I’m so thrilled to report that Michael Suczy’s film “THE VOW” that we filmed last year, has broken all box office records.

It was a blast to coach Channing Tatum on this film and of course, to work with Michael again after GREY GARDENS.

Here are the results: ”The Vow” brought in a whopping $11.6 million on Valentine’s Day.

Tuesday’s box office numbers have made “The Vow” the best midweek Valentine’s Day gross in history;

We’ll have word on two new exciting hush hush projects by month’s end. Stay tuned… and Happy Oscars!

Happy, Healthy, Prosperous and Musical New Year to Everyone!

I’m thrilled to announce all the upcoming events as this year begins. Firstly, three new workshops will begin in January:

Musical Theatre Gym – begins January 25 for five Wednesday nights.

Musical Theatre Workshop with Industry Showcase - begins January 30th for nine Monday nights

Weekend Pop Music Intensive – January 28th and 29th

A new web series, SHOWDISH, will also begin in January, which I am co-hosting with Jonathan Kruger, reviewing theatre, film and Television events, as we eat a “dish” of the week.

And, shortly, I will have two major new announcements: One is a series of TV variety specials, I have conceived and the other is a new vocal coaching gig for a major new film, starring a legendary actor. Announcements soon.

Lastly, I am very excited about two new Broadway shows I am writing the books for. Top secret. But one is based on a classic film. News to follow.

I’m happy to announce my new summer Musical Theatre Workshop with Industry Showcase: Nine Monday nights now beginning July 25th with Showcase on September 30th. Broadway creators will guest on Nights 4 and 5.

Perry, Idol, Tatum and Shepherd in First Half of 2011

As we are soon to enter the second half of 2011, I must say, it’s been a truly exciting half a year: beginning with my work with the very gifted, smart, inspiring and lovely Katy Perry… followed by a highly rewarding time working on American Idol with those amazing kids. Kudos of course to the amazing Michael Orland whose musical gifts never cease to amaze. I have also loved working with Michael writing the opening song for Erich Bergen’s new concert. Next up was Michael Suczy’s (“Grey Gardens”) latest directorial venture, “The Vow”. Coaching Channing Tatum for this new film was one of the coolest gigs ever. Chan has a fantastic work ethic – so talented and so much fun to hang and work with. This beautiful film will be released on Valentine’s Day 2012. Soon after, I began work with Cybill Shepherd on her new one woman show… We’re collaborating on the script — I’m directing and coaching her on the songs. She is a masterful singer – ready to stun the world with her gifts. Next up, are two Broadway musicals I’m co-writing, a new film with a prominent star and a variety TV series I conceived. It’s all hush hush but watch here for details. Until next time, keep singing like there’s nobody listening.

Cybill Shepherd to be “Dolly” in Raleigh!

I am having an exciting, fun-filled and inspiring adventure working with Cybill Shepherd on “Hello, Dolly”. No one in memory has sung this score with as much heart and humor and Cybill is belting those high C’s brilliantly. Hers promises to be a brilliant performance and I am proud of our great work together. Stay tuned.

Happy to announce two new workshops – my Musical Theatre Workshop with Showcase and “Musical Theatre Gym: ”Get Your Book Together” – 5 new songs in 5 weeks! This website has a lot of info about the workshop and showcase. There will be one more offered this year after the April session. The “Gym” is a once a year event and I know you’ll find it’s an exciting process to explore all new songs for your book – technically, emotionally and presentationally. Bob Garrett Wraps “The Vow”

I’ve just returned from Toronto from the filming of Michael Suczy’s, ”The Vow”. The film stars Rachel McAdams, Jessica Lange and Channing Tatum, who I vocal coached for the film.

Tomorrow begins Week Two of a New Musical Theatre Workshop I’m teaching which will have an industry showcase on March 28th.

Plans are also in motion for a workshop production of the new Hall and Oates musical, “You Make My Dreams Come True” this summer at the Trinity Rep company in Providence.
